Ireland squad open round 6n RBS

The Ireland coaches have named a 40-man squad, which includes three uncapped players, for the opening two rounds of the 2017 RBS 6 Nations Championship.
Hooker Niall Scannell is named in the forwards and is one of the three uncapped players in the squad. Scannell captained the Ireland Under-20s at the Junior World Championship in 2012, leading them to the semi-final.
That U-20 squad also included the likes of Tadhg Furlong, Iain Henderson, Jack Conan and Luke McGrath who are all named in the Ireland squad today.
Andrew Conway, who featured for the Ireland Wolfhounds in 2015, and Rory Scannell, brother of Niall, are the uncapped players named among the 18 backs in the squad.
Ireland travel to both Edinburgh and Rome over the course of first two rounds of this year's Championship, facing Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday, February 4 before flying to Rome to take on Conor O'Shea's Italian side on Saturday, February 11.
Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt commented: "It has been good to watch the players over the past two months and great to see many of them doing so well.
"As always, there were some difficult decisions but we feel that the group is a good mix with a number of key players having good experience and a number of newer players having gained valuable experience and confidence during the summer tour to South Africa and the recent GUINNESS Series."
Details of Ireland's open training sessions during the RBS 6 Nations will be announced in due course.

Inglaterra derrotó a Francia y se quedó con el Grand Slam No bastaba con salir campeón, con obtener la Triple Corona, Inglaterra quería tener un final completo con Grand Slam (luego de 13 años) y así lo hizo nada menos que ante Francia al que venció 31-21, en su casa y con un rugby que no brilló, pero que logró imponerlo en base a una gran defensa. El equipo de la Rosa sacudió la modorra del partido con dos tries. Uno de Danny Care que se filtró por el centro de la cancha y se fue derecho al try y el segundo, polémico, de Dan Cole con una posible pantalla que el árbitro no logró ver. A falta de protagonismo y de no poder concretar en los últimos metros las jugadas que generaba, Francia sólo logró sumar con el pie de Maxime Machenaud. En ese período, sintió el rigor del pack inglés y no logró imponer su juego. Inglaterra mostró una defensa ordenada con buen tackle, pero los penales le permitieron a Francia poder seguir cerca en el partido. Con cuatro penales, finalizó la primera parte con el resultado favorable a Inglaterra pero sólo con 5 puntos de diferencias. El 17-12 le dio aire al local para encarar el complemento. Para el segundo tiempo el desgaste se hizo sentir. Los penales estuvieron a la orden del día y Anthony Watson logró el único try de los 40 minutos finales. Machenaud con tres penales fue la única vía para seguir sumando y Owen Farrell, con dos penales, le dio un final soñado. Siete puntos de diferencia y diez minutos por jugar. Los galos fueron hacia adelante, pero su rival lo mantuvo lejos del ingoal. Nuevamente Owen Farrell apareció para sumar con un penal los últimos tres puntos del partido cuando quedaban dos por jugar.
